Such is the popularity of curry, it has become the nation's favourite dish and to mark National Curry Week we have come up with 5 silly facts that you never knew about the Curry.
They are silly and they might be wrong!
- There are now more Indian restaurants, per capita, in Leeds than in Mumbai.
- Chicken Tikka Massala, is the UK’s favourite meal. But it is not Indian, it’s British. As are Mulligatawny soup and the famous Balti.
- Currys are incredibly healthy. Especially when eaten cold the morning after a night of student excess.
- Britain spends £3.5 billion on curry every year, If all of that money was spent on poppadums, it would create a stack of the crispy delights that would reach the moon and orbit it twice. A spicy lasso!
- Rice has traditionally been the accompaniment to curry, it is increasingly being replaced by chips.
